Whataburger, a fast food chain out of Texas, has applied for a special zoning exemption allowing a 24 hour drive-through at 1601 Laurens Rd (This is at the entry to the EastLynne neighborhood on the corner of Lindsey Ave and Laurens Rd) In a continuing effort to inform the neighborhood about important topics, Eastlynne Neighborhood Association(ELNA) will be holding a neighborhood meeting on September 5th at 6:30 pm at Think Tank Brew Lab on Airport Rd. Representatives from Whataburger and the city will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about the zoning application. On September 14th the matter goes before the City of Greenville Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) for a public hearing prior to voting for or against the zoning exemption. The city is very interested in hearing where the neighborhood stands on this subject and there are a number of ways for your voice to be heard:
- Attend the neighborhood meeting at Think Tank Brew Lab on Tuesday, September 5 at 6:30. Everyone present will have an opportunity to ask questions and have their voice heard.
- Attend the BZA public meeting on September 14. The public is encouraged to get up and speak before the board. Mike Austin, the current ELNA organizer, Will be making a presentation to the board. If you feel strongly one way or the other regarding this matter, we urge you to also participate at this meeting. Your attendance/voice will make a difference! For BZA meeting info click here.
- Register and respond to email poll. The neighborhood association will also be sending out an email poll to all neighbors who have registered their email address with us asking where you stand on the matter (if you have not yet registered your email with us, we encourage you to do so here. This is how we can communicate important information to you and get feedback from you! No personal information gathered from neighbors will ever be shared) Mike Austin will present the results of the neighborhood poll to the zoning board at the BZA meeting on the 14th.
- You may also use the CONTACT* link on our new ELNA website to submit comments. Comments regarding the zoning variance will be aggregated and also inform Mike’s presentation to the zoning board.

We have a new look!
In our continued efforts to serve and inform the neighborhood we have developed a new website. We will be posting pertinent information and updates regularly (hopefully weekly). If you have not done so, please also register your email so we have a means to get important information to you directly. As previously mentioned, we will also occasionally utilize email to send polls and surveys to the neighborhood on important topics. This will allow neighborhood residents that are too busy or choose to not attend meetings to still have your voice heard on important matters.
*Please be aware, we are a new organization of volunteer neighbors. We will respond to inquiries, comments and suggestions as timely and thoughtfully as able.
