On January 23 the city released to the public its draft of the new Greenville Development Code. This code is designed to work in conjunction with the GVL2040 comprehensive plan (https://www.greenvillesc.gov/1398/GVL-2040-Comprehensive-Plan) and will be used to determine what is allowed to be built where. It will regulate things like use, height, and setbacks. It is also a mechanism for balancing competing private property interests. This code will ultimately dictate what can and can’t be built on any given piece of property within the city.
There are a number of proposed changes to the zoning in our neighborhood and the new development code will affect every resident and business owner in the city. Everyone should be paying close attention to this project.
Our Neighborhood Association will be conducting a meeting on March 6th and city representatives will be on hand to discuss the code and answer questions. We encourage everyone in the neighborhood to participate in this meeting.
A notification regarding time, location and the specifics of the March meeting will be sent out to the neighborhood via the email addresses that have been submitted and will also be posted here on this website.
